BELLY FAT--I had abdominal surgery a couple years ago and my belly seems to be accumulating lots of fat since?
then-my abdominal muscles weakened after the surgery and also I understand that cortisol (the stress hormone) creates a lot of fat around the belly, so my question is what can I do to, if not aleviate it totally, at least reduce it?
Good news for you - researchers at Duke University found that in a fairly short time, visceral fat (which is the name for fat that accumulates around the abdominal area) can be reduced or eliminated with exercise.
The researchers were surprised at how rapidly fat accumulated in the abdominal area of the study participants who did not engage in routine exercise; however, the overall fat reduction dropped rather quickly with regular work-outs. The specific details of their studies are in the attached link.
